80 new bus services to be rolled out under BSEP

This is a 100% jump.

According to the Ministry of Tranport's release based on the recent budget debate, Minister Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State Josephine Teo and Parliamentary Secretary Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim shared plans to enhance public and private transport systems. 

This included improving the capacity and reliability of public transport, sourcing for the next generation ERP system (ERP2) and enhancing cycling infrastructure and road safety. Minister Lui also shared plans for sea and air transport sectors.

13 new trains for the North-South and East-West Lines this year; 43 new trains added to North-East and Circle Lines from 2015. 80 new bus services to be introduced under BSEP, up from 40.

Another 450 buses to be introduced under BSEP in the next 3 years. About $7.5 million from Public Transport Fund for new schemes to cover Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Lower-wage Workers (LWWs).

Expansion of Black Spot Programme which identifies accident-prone locations for more safety initiatives to be implemented.

Pilot "Silver Zones" concept in residential areas with high elderly population and relatively high accident rates involving the elderly. New School Zone safety initiatives at 10 primary schools; existing School Zone initiatives extended to secondary schools.

3 more cycling towns in the pipeline – Bishan, Bukit Panjang and Woodlands. Construction of Changi Airport Terminal 4 has commenced; Concept Plan for Terminal 5 to be revealed later
