LTA to conduct travel survey

About 10,000 households will be involved for the Land Transport Authority to gain a better understanding of travelling patterns.

Conducted every four to five years, the Travel Survey provides LTA with relevant indicators on household travel patterns which will help the agency shape and refine transport policies and plans.

The indicators also help LTA periodically track the status of some of the targets stated in the Land Transport Master Plan that was announced in 2008.

The survey will start from the last week of June and is expected to be completed by early 2013. A notification letter will be sent to households selected for the survey.

Surveyors commissioned by LTA will be carrying out interviews with the participating households to gain an in-depth understanding of their travel patterns. Participants of the survey will be asked for details on the trips they make, such as the mode of travel, start and end locations, as well as travel times.

LTA will also conduct a separate survey with 10,000 MRT users to get a better understanding of their travelling experience and how the completion of the Circle Line (CCL) has influenced their travel patterns.
