ComfortDelGro buys UK private taxi operator for $12.5m

The acquired firm manages 700 drivers and 200 corporate accounts.

ComfortDelGro’s wholly-owned subsidiary CityFleet has agreed to wholly acquire Argyle Satellite Ltd and Argyle Satellite Contract Services Ltd (collectively known as AST) for $12.5m.

AST is a taxi and private hire operator across three licensing areas in Liverpool, England– The Wirral, Liverpool, and Cheshire West and Chester - withmore than 700 self-employed drivers on its circuit and about 200 active corporate accounts.

The acquisition will boost CityFleet’s 400 taxis in Liverpool through Computer Cab (Liverpool) Limited.

Besides taxi and private hire operations in Liverpool, CityFleet operates a fleet of about 3,000 radio taxis in London and Aberdeen. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Metroline Limited, is the third largest public bus operator in London with a fleet of close to 1,600 buses and its executive coach subsidiary, Westbus Coach Services Limited, provides executive coach services across the UK and mainland Europe.
