Fast & Furious: Top dangerous driving behaviors of Singaporeans revealed

In a hurry? If you’ve ever rushed through a yellow light or tailgated another vehicle, then you are among the majority of Singaporean drivers who break these common traffic rules very often.

A survey released by AXA Group and Nielsen revealed that aggressive driving attitudes are making three out of five Singaporeans feel that roads in the country are becoming more dangerous.

The study showed that beating the red light is the most common dangerous driving behavior that Singaporeans engage in, with 59% of respondents claiming to have done this before.

Speeding is a close second, with 56% of respondents admitting that they have driven at more than 10 kph above the speed limit.

In third place are answering the phone without a hands-free kit and overtaking, turning, or switching lane without signaling, with 39% of respondents claiming that they have flouted these rules.

Crossing the double white line to overtake another car completes the top 5. Thirty-six per cent of drivers admitted that they have engaged in this behavior before.
