Inmarsat Global Government business unit appoints Andy Start as President

Inmarsat also appointed David Helfgott as President and CEO of Inmarsat Government.

Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, has appointed Andy Start as President of its Global Government business unit, dedicated to serving the global government market, with the exception of the US government sector.

In this role, Start will spearhead all sales, marketing and delivery of solutions and services that meet the needs of such government customers around the world. He will be responsible for customer-driven product and service innovation, determining both wholesale and retail go-to-market strategies, and driving the distribution of Inmarsat services to such government customers.

Start most recently served as President, International RF Communications at Harris Corporation and prior to that was Managing Director and Vice President of BAE Systems Platform Solutions. He also served as Director of the Military Space business unit at Astrium where he was instrumental in the creation of the Paradigm service business.

Inmarsat Global Government is one of the four market-facing business units within Inmarsat Solutions, following the organisational re-structure announced by Inmarsat in January.

On May 22 Inmarsat announced the appointment of David Helfgott to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Inmarsat Government, the Inmarsat business unit dedicated to serving the US government sector, according to an Inmarsat report.

Start holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Portsmouth, a post-graduate certificate in Management from Bournemouth University and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
