ST Engineering subsidiary buys anti-satcom jamming firm

Glowlink’s patented algorithm can remove satellite interference.

ST Engineering subsidiary iDirect Government (iDirectGov) has fully acquired US-based Glowlink Communications Technology along with its production of satellite communication anti-jamming technology, according to a press release.

This was carried out in a merger through a special purpose vehicle, Intrepid Merger Sub and its surviving entity, Glowlink.

The aggregate purchase consideration was $28m (US$20m) on a cash-free and debt-free basis as well as employment based retention payment of up to $6.9m (US$5m) with some conditions.

Glowlink’s patented Communication Signal Interference Removal (CSIR) algorithm was designed to provide real-time isolation and removal of satellite interferences without requiring additional bandwidth.

“This acquisition builds off the strengths of both teams to expand our satcom offerings with technology tailored to protect mission-critical communications, especially in an increasingly dense signal environment with the advent of many small satellites and 5G,” ST Engineering president of electronics sector Ravinder Singh said.
