Starhub to offer i2Surf as core post-paid plans - what about M1?

In a letter to Singapore Business Review, Cassie Fong, StarHub’s Senior Manager of Corporate Communications has the following to say on the firm's 3G mobile plans:

"In this era of data explosion, it is necessary for mobile operators to rationalise and bundle their data products right to better manage finite network resources so as to ensure network quality for customers.

We have launched our i2Surf plans (with data bundles of 1GB to 5GB) more than seven months ago, and are pleased that the industry is moving in this direction.

Bundled with a $30 data price cap as well as a free 24-month multiSIM service, we believe that our i2Surf plans offer the best value among similar products in the market, especially well-catered to the rising trend of customers holding multiple devices, such as a smartphone and a tablet.

To prepare for exponential growth in mobile data traffic, we will offer i2Surf as our core post-paid plans; SmartSurf (which offer data bundles of 12GB or more) will be discontinued in the near future."

More details about StarHub's LTE devices and services will be shared meanwhile in due course, said Ms Fong as the company focuses in building its LTE network to provide coverage key business areas such as Singapore Changi Airport, Marina Bay, Suntec, and Shenton Way later this year. 

 Asked if M1 will follow rivals in slashing data caps, a spokesperson only said: "We constantly review our price plans, but are not able to share details at this point."
