
SingTel's mioTV garnered first quarter $14mln income
With customer base of 220,000, mio TV has become key factors in company's competitive strategy.
The mio TV and other multimedia business lines have become vital parts of the long term profitability and competitive strategy of Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) according to the company’s latest quarterly results.
For the first quarter of its financial year ended 30 June 2010, SingTel posted overall net profit of S$943 million on the back of sales of S$4.3 billion, a rise of 12%.
Revenue from SingTel’s pay TV service, mio TV, amounted to S$14 million and during the quarter, mio TV gained further market traction, reaching a customer base of 220,000. SingTel optimistically predicts that the launch of the ESPN STAR Sports channels from July and the Barclays Premier League season 2010 in August in SingTel’s sports content bundles will drive further customer growth in the coming quarters.
