SingTel grabs lion's share of 100MHz of spectrum in recent band bidding

It is worth $136m.

According to CIMB, Singapore’s regulator said that M1, SingTel and StarHub were allocated refarmed spectrum in the 1800MHz and 2.6GHz bands that they had bid for at the reserve prices. 

These spectrum will be used for 4G services. A total of 270MHz of spectrum in the 1,800MHz and 2.5GHz spectrum bands was awarded.

Of the 270MHz, SingTel took the lion’s share of 100MHz of spectrum for S$136m (0.8% of its revenue). M1 and StarHub won 80MHz and 90MHz of spectrum for S$104m and S$120, respectively, which represent 9% and 5% of their revenues.

Payments for these spectrum blocks are due just before their commencement dates: July 2015 for spectrum in the 2.5GHz band and April 2017 for spectrum in the 1800MHz band, upon the expiration of existing rights.

There were no expressions of interest for spectrum from potential entrants.
