COE quotas sink 6.2% for November to January period

Only 24,234 COEs will be up for grabs.

There will be less Certificate of Entitlements (COE) available in the next three months, the Land Transportation Authority (LTA) announced.

In a statement, LTA said there will only be 24,234 available COEs in the period starting November to January.

This is a 6.2% decrease from 25,843 COEs available in the past three months.The number of COEs has shrunk for a second straight quarter.

Of the five COE categories, only the non-passenger car categories will expand. Average monthly quota for goods vehicles & buses category is set to grow to 361 from 350 in the past period. COEs for motorcycles category are also set to see an expansion, from 718 to 741.

Meanwhile, COEs for cars up to 1,600 cc will fall from 4,016 to 3,688. For cars above 1,600 cc, quotas are slated to decrease to 2,486, a dip from last period's 2,672.

COEs for open categories also will also be limited to 799, from 857 in the past three months.
