M1, Keppel Land project lets homeowners manage household remotely

Security, lighting, healthcare will be monitored through smartphones.

M1 and Keppel Land have launched Smart Lives, a program that provides smart living solutions to Keppel Land’s residential and commercial properties.

According to M1’s media release, the pilot program will run for 12 months, beginning in early 2016, at Keppel Land’s 62-unit condominium in Sengkang, The Luxurie. Thirty households will be selected to experience a suite of smart healthcare and home solutions.

The release detailed the program’s home security package, which comprises an Internet of Things (IoT) hub, a camera, and contact and motion sensors. Coupled with software solutions provided by Philip Tang & Sons, residents will be alerted to unwanted entry or when motion is detected in off-limits areas of the residence.

Residents would also benefit from the IoT gateway, which allows data to be securely captured, analysed, and shared with medical professionals who can make corresponding health recommendations remotely.

The program also has a range of smart lighting solutions that allow residents to control home lighting wirelessly through mobile applications.

The Luxurie unit homeowner Alan Ang testified to the program, saying that the smart features complement hectic lifestyles.“For instance, we are notified at work when the kids are home after school. The smart lighting system is activated automatically when it detects our arrival at home in the evening. Last but definitely not least, the health solution is our family physician that helps us monitor our vital signs,” he stated.

M1 and Keppel Land will gather feedback from the Smart Lives program to pinpoint more additional smart solutions they can offer to customers.
