Armarda associate to supply satellite phones to Chinese Civil Defense

The supply will allow civil defense personnel to maintain critical lines of communication during natural disasters or civil emergencies.

China Mobile Satellite Communications Group Limited announced that, further to its contracted supply of 2,000 units of Thuraya’s satellite phones to China Telecom Satellite Communications, it has on 25 September 2012 entered into a new contract with Suzhou Tai Li Te Information Technology Limited and the Design Academy of National Defense of the University of the People’s Liberation Army.

The company will supply 3,000 sets of Thuraya’s satellite phones with firm delivery schedule and provide air-time services. CMSCG will be working with the two parties to provide mobile satellite handsets and services with the designated satellite phone prefix “1349” to enterprise users from China’s Civil Defense Industry.

Under the terms of the contract, Suzhou Tai Li Te Information Technology Limited will be acting as distributor responsible for the sales and marketing of the mobile satellite handsets and air-time services to the users from the Civil Defense Department in China.

Meanwhile the Design Academy of National Defense of the University of the People’s Liberation Army will be acting as consultant to provide and implement Civil Defense Industry solutions and applications based on Thuraya’s technology platform.

In March 2012, 45% equity interests of China Satellite Mobile Communication Group Limited, the wholly owned parent company of CMSCG, has been acquired by Singapore-listed Armarda Group Limited.
