M1 delays launching of LTE nationwide

Tagged as the first in South East Asia but is no longer due for launching by Q1 next year as earlier announced.

“Nationwide Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is currently being rolled out and will be launched in the second half of 2012,” M1 senior communications manager Petrina Teoh told Singapore Business Review.

The upcoming network will run on 1.8 and 2.6 gigahertz (HGz) frequency band, which according to Ms. Teoh is up to four times more efficient in carrying data traffic compared to its current network.

Currently, the LTE network of M1 which is launched last June is only limited within the financial district including Marina Bay, Suntec, Shenton Way and other areas.

M1’s dual band LTE network will have an initial theoretical downlink speed of 75 Mbps and uplink speed of 37.5 Mbps. By end 2012, the theoretical downlink and uplink speeds will be upgraded to 150 Mbps and 75 Mbps respectively.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
