Statoil awards Sembmarine $660.67m FPSO contract

The contract will cover the engineering and construction of a hull and living quarters.

Sembcorp Marine's (Sembmarine) subsidiary, Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters Pte Ltd, won a $660.67m (US$490m) contract from Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) for one of its floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSO).

Sembmarine announced on a press release that the contract focuses on the turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction of a hull and living quarters for the FPSO.

The FPSO will have a hull approximately 55 m wide and 295 m long. It will be deployed at the Johan Castberg field development in the Barents Sea, about 240 km from Hammerfest, Norway.

The vessel will be self-contained for harsh-environment operation, with living quarters accommodating up to 140 personnel.

The contract followed the signing of a letter of intent between the two parties, announced on 10 November 2017.

The project is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2020.
