Sembmarine clinches largest offshore renewable project

It secured an agreement consisting of three contracts valued at $2.8b (€2b).

Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) and consortium partner GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions have jointly secured a Framework Cooperation Agreement (FCA) to build an HVDC electrical transmission system for TenneT.

Sembmarine said this is their “largest offshore renewable project” to date.

The agreement covers five years with an option to extend another three years. It consists of three contracts, each valued at approximately $2.8b (€2b).

Under the deal, Sembmarine’s consortium will supply high voltage direct current (HVDC) electrical transmission systems for three mega offshore wind farm projects, with a combined capacity of six Gigawatt (GW), in the Netherlands as part of TenneT’s offshore grid acceleration programme.

Sembmarine will also be involved in the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning of three 2GW HVDC Offshore Converter Platforms.

Sembmarine will progressively install the platforms to serve TenneT’s three offshore wind farm projects – the IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek 2 grid connections.
Construction of the platforms, each comprising a 25,500-tonne topside and a 9,500-tonne jacket foundation structure, will progressively commence from 3Q 2024 at Sembcorp Marine’s Singapore and Batam Indonesia yards.

Sembmarine’s wholly-owned subsidiary in the UK, Sembmarine SLP, will perform the offshore hook-up and commissioning, including the provision of logistics and warranty support from its base in the UK, as well as the establishment of a European office in the Netherlands.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
