Seatrium bags retrofit CCS project from Solvang
The project is scheduled to commence this year.
Seatrium has secured a full-scale, turnkey Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) retrofit project from long-term favoured contract partner, Solvang.
Set to commence in Q3 2024, the 7 MW Wärtsilä CCS system will be fitted into Solvang’s 21,289 cubic metre ethylene carrier, Clipper Eris.
It will use amine cleaning technology to capture 70% of the carbon dioxide (CO2) in the exhaust gas from the main engine.
This will involve the entire value chain for handling CO2, including liquefaction and storage onboard the vessel.
Seatrium is responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, system upgrades, and integration of a carbon capture and compression/storage system.
