MPA, CMA CGM Group ink deal on maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation and innovation

They will explore the use of zero and low-carbon marine fuels, amongst others.

The Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and transport and logistics solutions company, CMA CGM Group, have agreed to collaborate on the development of capabilities and solutions across maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation and innovation. 

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the two parties, they will be exploring the use of zero and low-carbon marine fuels such as e-methanol, e-methane and biofuels for commercial shipping and research on technologies such as carbon capture solutions.

For greater digitalisation, MPA and CMA CGM Group will work together on maritime cybersecurity and just-in-time shipping and innovations such as shipboard automation for more safety, efficiency and smarter solutions onboard vessels.

Lastly, the two parties said they will also explore establishing and investing in Singapore-based incubators and accelerators to grow Singapore-based marine tech start-ups.

Given Singapore's key position in our global network, I am very pleased to sign this partnership with the Maritime and Port Authority,” Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group said.
