EPS to register ammonia-fueled newbuilds in Singapore

The vessels are set for delivery from 2026 onwards.

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has signed MOUs with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), ABS, and Lloyd’s Register to register its six new ammonia dual-fuel ships under the Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS).

The four Newcastlemaxes and two Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs) fitted with ammonia dual-fuel engines are slated for delivery from 2026 onwards.

The partnership builds on EPS' work with MAN Energy Solutions, HD Hyundai, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) yards to develop an ammonia-burning engine for new EPS-managed vessels.

The MOUs will support MPA’s drive to decarbonise and digitalise the shipping detector through green initiatives.

Under the MOU, the partners will collaborate on developing ammonia bunkering capacities, training seafarers in safety and management, sharing expertise on ammonia solutions and standards for power and bunkering, and exploring pilot trials with zero and near-zero emission fuels.

In addition, EPS will collaborate with MPA at the new Maritime Energy Training Facility, set to open by 2026, to advance crew training on zero and near-zero emission fuels and technologies.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
