Yangzijiang bagged US$214mn worth of contracts in March 2011
The six new contracts are orders for two units of 82,000DWT bulk carriers, two units of 10,000DWT bulk carriers and two units of 4,900TEU container ships, said DMG.
The orders for four newbuild bulk carriers was a positive surprise as DMG expected a slowdown in orders for bulk carriers due to recent weakness in the BDI.
However, DMG continues to believe that the bulk of newbuild orders this year will come from the containership segment and this will offset the slowdown in orders for bulk carriers and tankers.
