Suspected pirates board Singapore-registered vessel
The Liquefied Petroleum Gas vessel named YORK was said to be on its way to Seychelles when the suspected pirates boarded at approximately 90 nautical miles from Mombasa, Kenya.
A distress alert was received at about 2025hrs (Singapore time) on 23 October 2010 while at position Lat 4º 11'S Long 41º 19'E, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
MPA, which received a report about the incident, is working with the ship owner, York Maritime Company Pte Ltd., and other government agencies.
The LPG vessel has 17 crew members on board.
