He was the CEO and president for China Sun Life Everbright Life Insurance and general manager of China for Sun Life Financial from 2000 to 2005. He was president for T&T Insurance from 1990 to 2000 and Grandview Financial from 1998 to 2001. He was senior representative for Toronto Sun Life from 1986 to 1999. He was president for Toronto Macro Finance from 1998 to 1999. He was financial manager for the Bank of Nova Scotia from 1984 to 1985. He was assistant vice president of Corporate Lending for Wells Fargo Bank (Singapore) from 1982 to 1983. He was credit professional for the Bank of America (Singapore) from 1981 to 1982.

He was certified as a corporate director by the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors in 2006. He studied Executive Management Development Program from Harvard Business School in 2002. He got his Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee in 1979 and his Master of Business Administration degree from the Ohio State University in 1981.
