Singaporeans need to save 7.6 days’ of salary to afford the iPhone 14 Pro

Globally, the Swiss are the most able to afford the iPhone.

It will cost the average Singaporean over one week worth of salary to afford the base version of the latest iPhone 14 Pro, according to a study by Picodi.

According to data from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singaporeans’ average wage is S$5,412 gross or S$4,571 net. This means that the average citizen will have to work and set aside 7.6 days worth of salary in order to purchase an iPhone 14 Pro with a 128 GB memory.

Compared with the past five years, the iPhone has become more affordable to the average Singaporean person, according to Picodi’s data. In 2018 it would cost the average citizen 10.4 days of full-time work to afford an iPhone. In 2019, that’s 8.4 days; in 2020, 8.1 days; and in 2021, 7.6 days, remaining unchanged in 2022.

Globally, Singaporeans are amongst the countries who need the least amount of workdays to afford the iPhone 14 Pro.

Amongst countries, the Swiss could afford to buy the iPhone quickest in terms of average salary per day, only needing 4.6 days of work to buy the base unit. An average American will need to work 5.7 days, whilst an Australian will have to work 6.1 days.
