Roche Bobois brings French luxury design in Singapore

Check out its classic and contemporary collections.

Singaporeans are never behind the pack when it comes to design as evidenced in its fine architecture and shrewd use of space. To compliment this rising design industry, French Luxury furniture brand Roche Bobois' showroom finally opened its doors to Singaporeans last July.

Present in 45 countries, Roche Bobois features two collections: Les Contemporains and Nouveaux Classiques. Each offers a mix of designs ranging from contemporary to classic.

They are showcased on a surface area of approximately 7,500 sq ft where guests can revel in a slew of collaborations from design bigwigs such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel, Missoni and Ungaro.

Singapore Business Review interviewed Director Bobby Randhawa to know more about the showroom's design and what clients can look forward to.

SBR: What were the needs/requirements of Roche Bobois for its showroom space outlined in the brief to the design firm?

Showroom was designed by Roche Bobois in Paris to conform to the high standards required to open a Flagship. No brief was given but the team did take into account the geographical location, the space and the volume.

SBR: What is significant/unique about this project/design?

The Roche Bobois Singapore Flagship Showroom has been designed to reflect the beautiful collection it will showcase. Amongst some highlights are mirror-reflective drop ceilings to enhance the collections. Another spectacular visual feast is the entrance of the showroom, which will have a distinctive Parisian feel.

The entire reception space will showcase the Paris skyline, via a feature wall of wallpaper that is printed from actual professional photographs. Another feature which is significant is our LED Mirror backdrop on the right of the showroom. I've attached a picture here of a similar one in New York.

SBR: Please give us a brief description of the showroom space.

Showroom is located at 354 Alexandra Road (Directly opposite the BMW and Mercedes Benz Showrooms). It has a retail space of 7500 Sq feet. It will also have a design studio within the premise. We decided to incooperate a design studio to facilitate for clients who wish to have their homes or offices designed for them.

SBR: Tell us about the team who worked on this project.

The local team behind this Singapore project are myself, Bobby Randhawa, Director of OSO Luxury Pte Ltd, and my partner, Angelique Nicolette Teo. I come from a background of being in the luxury furniture business, having worked with renowned architect, Claudio Silvestrin. Angelique is a prominent personality and TV presenter for HBO.
