Singapore’s real estate mogul Dennis Wee dies at 71

The real estate icon passed away after a battle with cancer.

Singapore’s real estate “legend” Dennis Wee died on Wednesday at the age of 71 after a year-long battle with cancer.

This was announced by his daughter, Daphne Wee. She said in a social media post that her father passed away “peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at home.”

The elder Wee made a mark in the real estate industry after he built the Dennis Wee Group (DWG) in 1992, one of the largest property agencies in the city-state.

DWG then merged with PropNex Realty in 2017, becoming the dominant player in Singapore with a total salesforce of around 7,000. It took over ERA Realty Network which then had over 6,000 agents.

PropNex Realty CEO Ismail Gafoor in his post extended his condolences and said that Dennis’ loss was immeasurable.

“When Dennis was diagnosed with cancer early last year, he chose to live life and was a fighter, never giving up and connecting with his friends and loved ones,” he said in another post.

PropNex Realty Deputy CEO Kelvin Fong, meanwhile, recognized how Dennis puts the interest of his people first.

“I must say he has completed his mission in life and now he is in a better place. Thanks for showing and leading the way for us,” Fong said.
