Singapore's HDB units named most affordable public housing in APAC
The country, however, has the most expensive private homes.
Singapore's HDB units are the most affordable public housing in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, according to Urban Land Institute (ULI) Asia Pacific Center for Housing's Home Attainability Index.
The country's public housing units have a median price-to-income ratio of 4.7.
The units' median price of US$409,095 is on par with the other median prices found in many second-tier cities in China and Tachikawa, a satellite city in Tokyo, Japan.
ULI said the HDB units' low costs were due to "the high priority the Singapore government has placed on providing affordable housing to its citizens."

On the flip side, the study stated that Singapore is the city with most expensive private homes APAC, with a median price of US$1,200,087.
Singapore also has the most expensive rental cost in the region, with a median monthly rent of US$2,596 for its non-HDB units.
