Singapore Land Authority forges new partnerships to solve urban challenges

The partnerships will explore the use of geospatial data and technology.

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has inked three deals to better address urban challenges faced by the Lion City.

The first of which is the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Container Depot and Logistics Association-Singapore (CDAS) which will improve the routing of heavy vehicles with the use of geospatial data such as road conditions and restrictions.

This will allow members companies of CDAS to route their heavy vehicles efficiently and safely.

SLA’s geospatial collaborations also go beyond working with the industry. The agency has been working with SG Enable and Gardens by the Bay to map barrier-free routes to enable wheelchair users to move about easily.  

SLA has also tapped the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to improve its use of geospatial data and technology.

The three-year collaboration with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will entail the exchange of knowledge and experience between two parties on the following: 

• The development and management of national geospatial databases; 
• The use of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning in the development of Digital Twins;
• Digital transformation in the geospatial industry; and 
• Development of geospatial products and services that will benefit citizens.
