PropertyGuru's Green Score to asses HDB, condo 'eco-friendliness'

The new rating is aimed towards supporting environment-friendly lifestyles.

PropertyGuru announced today the launching of Green Score, a metric designed to measure the sustainability of rating of condominiums and HDBs.

The measurement takes into account the distance to public transport, green building rating assessment, and sustainability awards obtained from Property Guru Asia Property Awards. A score would be given from 1-5.

This is in response to the company’s H2 2021 Consumer Sentiment Study, which concluded that 82% of Singaporeans are willing to spend more for a more environmentally friendly home. 81% of the respondents also felt that forested areas needed to be preserved from urbanization.

PropertyGuru's CEO and Managing Director Hari V. Krishnan sees this as part of their current push towards more sustainable urban living. He believed that Green Score will enable Singaporeans to prioritise sustainability in deciding which property to purchase.

“Since last year, we have ramped up our programs, tech capabilities, talent, and partnerships to promote sustainable urban living and influence positive changes in our community," Krishnan said.

"We commit to making changes in our own business to meet the goals stated in the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and to building a better home for our future generations. In time, we hope that sustainable living will be a natural way of life, and each of us will place environmental considerations top-of-mind,” he added.

Initiatives that PropertyGuru has undertaken in the past include publishing green living guides across Malaysia, SIngapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, the introduction of awards for sustainable projects at PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and the Greenguru internal program for its employees.

Since its soft launch in February 2021, nearly 2 million property seekers have viewed the Green Score.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
