Older BTO applicants justify higher income ceiling

That is as first-time applicants for new Housing and Development Board flats reach a median age of 34, according to todayonline.com.

AndIn a report by Today Online, in last month's Build-to-Order exercise, more than half of the first-timers had applied under HDB's Fiance-Fiancee Scheme and had a median age of 27.

"There is therefore justification to revise the HDB income ceiling, giving the rising ages of applicants," National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan wrote on his housing blog.

The report also said income ceiling for new HDB flats will, indeed, be raised from the present S$8,000.
