HDB rolls out enhancements to married child priority scheme

Up to 30% of new flats will be set aside for applicants.

The Housing and Development Board today rolled out changes to the married child priority scheme (MCPS), which will allow more married children to live close to their parents.

Under the changes, HDB will set aside a certain proportion of new flat supply for parents and married children who wish to live close to one another.

Up to 30% of the flat supply from this month’s build-to-order (BTO) and sale of balance flats (SBF) exercises will be set aside for MCPS first-timer families and up to 15% for second-timer families.

Previously, families who wish to live with or near each other received extra ballot chances for their new flat application under the MCPS.

With effect from November’s BTO and SBF exercises, the MCPS will be converted from a chance-based to a quota-based priority scheme to offer such applicants significantly higher chances of success.
