HDB offers 4,841 BTO flats for sale

Units are spread across five locations.

Singaporeans now have a wider range of options for buying flats as the Housing Development Authority (HDB) unveiled 4,841 new flats for sale in August, the third batch under the Build-To-Order (BTO) scheme for this year.

HDB revealed that the flats are spread across five projects – three in the non-mature towns of Hougang, Sembawang and Yishun, and two in the mature town of Tampines – bringing the total number of BTO flats offered this year to 12,781 units. Along with the 5,170 balance flats offered in May 2016, HDB has offered a total of 17,951 flats in this year.

Flats for sale include two-room flexi to three-generation (3Gen) units as the government is keen on meeting the housing need of every Singaporean, the housing authority said.

The flats are also subsidized considering their location, attributes, and the prevailing market conditions. On top of this, first time buyers may apply for housing grants and are considered priority clients.

“Eligible first-timer families can enjoy up to $80,000 of housing grants, comprising the Additional CPF Housing Grant (AHG) (up to $40,000) and the Special CPF Housing Grant (SHG) (up to $40,000). With these grants, buyers of 2-room Flexi, 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats could pay as little as $4,000, $86,000, $185,000 and $301,000 respectively,” HDB explained.

Application for new flats may be submitted online on the HDB InfoWEB until next Tuesday, August 23.

Aside from the BTO flats announced this month, HDB leaked it will also launch 5,090 BTO flats in Bedok, Bidadari, Kallang Whampoa and Punggol in November this year. About 5,000 balance flats will be offered in a concurrent Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercise, it added.
