HDB doubles supply of Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme flats

The agency increased the flat supply to 4,000 by 2025 from the current 2,000.

The Housing & Development Board (HDB) has increased the supply of flats available under the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS) from 2,000 to 4,000 flats by 2025. 

The vacated flats at Tanglin Halt under the 2014 Selective En Bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS), which will be around 2,000, will form the bulk of the additional PPHS supply.

HDB will also refurbish the flats across 17 blocks in Tanglin Halt.

The blocks to be spruced up for interim use under PPHS comprise Blocks 55, 56, 58-60, 62 Commonwealth Drive, and Blocks 33-38 and 40-44 Tanglin Halt Road. Another four blocks, Blocks 63-66, are already part of the existing PPHS supply.

After the refurbishments, HDB will let out the flats to families needing temporary housing whilst they await the completion of their new Build-to-Order (BTO) flats.

Previous occupiers of the SERS flats were offered new flats in the nearby Dawson estate and have since moved into their new homes.

The PPHS provides an additional temporary housing option for households waiting for their new flats to be completed. 

“Married couples with at least one child aged 18 and below, including expectant parents, will get priority in the allocation of flats under this scheme,” HDB explained.
