Disgraced ex-ST Marine senior execs slapped with over 1,700 additional charges

They made over $6.5m in false petty cash claims.

Three former ST Marine senior executives faced an additional 1,744 corruption charges when they appeared in State Courts on Wednesday, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) revealed.

The trio made false petty cash claims totalling to $6.5 million for entertainment expenses. The three former executives were first charged in court for bribery offenses.

Mok Kim Whang, former senior vice president of Tuas Yard, will be hit with an additional 824 charges for false petty cash claims valued at $3.1 million. Mok is also accused of paying $43,721 in bribes to an agent of Hyundai Engineering and Construction.

Meanwhile, former president of commercial business Tan Mong Seng was charged with 445 counts of engaging in a conspiracy to make false entries in ST Marine Petty Cash Vouchers amounting to over $1.6 million. Tan also paid $43,721 in bribes to a Hyundai agent.

Lastly, former Chief Operating Officer Han Kew Yang was hit with another 473 counts for false petty cash claims amounting to $1.8m. Han was first charged with eight counts of corruption involving the sum $790,772.

A pre-trial conference has been scheduled on Jan 20, 2016.
