Singaporean startup offers at home job video interviews

Now no need for that firm handshake.

Quantine bills itself as the first company in the region to offer a complete package of pre-recorded video interviewing techniques with candidate testing capabilities.

Soon to be launched is the combined force of new ‘virtual introduction’ with the existing ‘virtual interview’, brought through Quantine’s flagship product, Next-5.

The new ‘video introduction’ feature would equip jobseekers with video introductions as a part of their professional resumes.

Next-5, in conjunction with talent recruitment and management tools, allows a pre-recorded selection, introduction, and assessment of candidates – all conducted virtually thereby saving time for the recruiter and candidate.

Quantine was set up in 2009 by Mr Kenneth Yap, 31 and Mr. Daryl Low, 29.

This platform provides a refined filtration process of exposition, selection and systematic record keeping of job candidate information, making the process efficient and saving companies lots of money,” said Kenneth Yap, Managing Director.

How it works is, the employer logs into the platform and posts vacancies. Jobseekers then apply for the positions they are interested in, by submitting their introduction video along with their resume.

Next-5 allows jobseekers to put up 5 different types of introduction videos, which serve as their cover letter in their job application.

It enables them to create a unique video to tailor to the different type of jobs they are applying for. Employers view all submitted applications and filter the shortlisted candidates for a round of assessment, i.e. the virtual interview. This virtual interview is pre-recorded and not in real time and hence serves as another filtration level.

Employers are able to qualify each application through a set of questions which the candidate has only one chance of answering in one sitting.

"This translates to a transparent interviewing process as it enables employers to objectively compare question responses across different applicants easily and quickly," said Yap.

Furthermore, applications received are compiled by the web-based platform into an efficient database where employers will be able to use a range of filters to screen and save the data of each candidate for future reference.

"This also means that different hiring offices can share the same information. This platform is compatible with any internet browser, it does not have to be downloaded separately," Yap added.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
