Singapore expands sustainability programme to support SMEs

The new initiatives will help businesses harness sustainability as an economic advantage.

Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MIT) and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) will expand the Enterprise Sustainability Programme with new initiatives to provide support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in building up their sustainability capabilities.

These include new digital courses and partner programmes, workshops, playbooks, and a one-stop website to give local enterprises easy access to tools and resources for their sustainability journey.

An enhanced Enterprise Development Grant will support their sustainability projects, with up to 70% of the project cost will be covered until 2026.

The government will continue to build on Singapore’s strengths as a financial, logistics, trading, and research and development hub to capture economic opportunities in new green growth sectors and help SMEs harness sustainability as their competitive advantage.

Aside from supporting SMEs, MTI will also help workers equip themselves with skills suitable for the green economy by setting up a Green Skills Committee that will provide training frameworks and programs for new or transformed jobs.
