SATS member WFS establishes air cargo terminal and cold chain facility in India

Plan of maximising the terminal’s throughput is in the talks.

SATS Group member Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) announced the opening of its air cargo terminal and cold chain facility at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR) in India.

Back in June 2022, WFS was granted a 15-year operating license to run the international cargo terminal and cold chain facility through a partnership with Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL), the operator of Bengaluru airport.

WFS said it will oversee the development, operation, management, and maintenance of the international cargo terminal, as well as serve as the exclusive operator of the dedicated cold chain facility at BLR airport. 

There are plans in progress to increase the terminal's annual throughput to over 250,000MT.

Additionally, WFS and BIAL will expand the capacity of the airport's cold chain facility in two phases, reaching 80,000MT and 150,000MT per annum.

Bengaluru has joined the SATS and WFS global network, a comprehensive network spanning over 200 locations in more than 20 countries, offering air cargo logistics, ground handling, and technical services. 

SATS, the recent acquirer of WFS, operates the air cargo terminal in Mumbai. By opening the air cargo terminal and cold chain facility in BLR Airport, WFS enhances the cargo network connectivity in India for SATS and WFS customers. This enables the provision of value-added and end-to-end air cargo services worldwide, said WFS.
