IMDA, MCI unveil 8 MoU, 14 projects under SG-China Smart City Initiative

The new projects feature the use of advanced technologies for the green economy.

The third Singapore-China (Shenzhen) Smart City Initiative Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) meeting saw the launch of 14 new projects and the signing of eight memoranda of understanding.

Of the total MoU signed, six were on innovation and entrepreneurship, one was on digital trade, and the remaining was on cross-border dispute resolution.

Meanwhile, the projects initiated in the third JIC were the IMDA-TusStar Xchange, Shenzhen-Singapore Joint Innovation Call, Cross-border eCommerce Cooperation, Cross-border Trade Big Data Platform; Demonstration Zone; Singapore-Qianhai Talent Cooperation; AEO Mutual Recognition Cooperation; Shenzhen-Singapore New Energy Vehicle Smart Platform; A*STAR Collaborative Commerce Marketplace (ACCM) Collaboration, NUS - CIMC CCUS (Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilisation and Storage) Research; NUS-STIC CO2 Subsea Carbon Sequestration; National Library Board, Singapore-Shenzhen Library Smart Library Cooperation; Yanlord Development Cooperation; Fintech Cooperation.

IMDA and MCI said the new projects will “deepen the ongoing collaboration between Singapore and Shenzhen in enabling digital transformation and policy innovation, and create new opportunities for our businesses and people in research and innovation, trade, sustainability, and talent development.”

Some of the new joint projects also feature the use of advanced technologies and AI for the green economy and sustainability, such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere and enhancing battery management for electric vehicles. 

To date, a total of 29 projects have been initiated and 21 MOUs have been signed under SCI.
