CtrlShift’s new office exudes a ‘wow-effect’ without being too grand
Paying attention to small details paid off.
Nestled in the middle of Mediapolis, within the fast-growing hub of One-North dubbed as the future of Singapore's Media industry, CtrlShift has chosen Infinite Studios as its strategic location for its new office headquarters.
Reza Behnam, executive chairman of CtrlShift, told SBR that being a high-growth company, they needed a space that could accommodate a fast-expanding team, whilst still being cosy and fun. Having said that, Reza added that the CtrlShift team loves their new space as it offers an interesting mix between true Singaporean heartland and up-and-coming trendy outfits.
“A place which will be enthusiastic to come to, with a hint of the wow-effect, without being pompous or crass, in line with the principles of simplicity and transparency that are true to our brand. This is why we chose a fully open space, with transparent dividers, to create a sense of freedom, openness and sincerity, unconstrained,” Reza’s exact words describing the new office.
CtrlShift new office is aimed to function as the main attraction point for clients, investors and partners.
ACT and have Fun core values
At CtrlShift, they believe in the company’s strong cultural identity, founded on their four values namely Audacity, Creativity, Tenacity & Fun (ACT and have Fun!). That is why with the new office, the CtrlShift team wants an environment where people can be productive while having fun.
Boasting of its features, the office space’s pantry is filled with free snacks, they also have a pool table, and a collaboration room (where the team have their bi-weekly Yoga classes).
According to Reza, they are uncompromised about having the best of both worlds. He explained that because the spirit of CtrlShift, they are able to reconcile what seem to be irreconcilable opposites: strength and subtlety, business and flair, art and science, work and play.
While it seemed to be all fun, CtrlShift admit that they are not a Fortune500 company yet and had to face some budgetary constraints to open the new office. Reza revealed that they had to make a few trade offs, plan carefully and think about the longer term rather than having the comfort of splashing money all at once. As a result, many of the furnishing in the new office are custom made, from the lamps to the wall feature. He said that this approach is slightly more laborious, but provided some cost savings. After experimenting a bit they believed, it all paid off.
