Daily Briefing: Smart wearables startup KaHa bags US$6.2m in series B funding; Singapore-based hospitality firm to build US$40m resort in Phuket

And edtech startup Cudy has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round.

KaHa, a Singapore-based end-to-end IoT platform for smart wearables, has raised US$6.2m in Series B funding, led by ICT Fund, who specialises in deep-tech venture capital fund. An unnamed existing strategic investor from Europe also joined the round.

KaHa said that the funds raised in this round will be used to boost its research and development and scale its operations in the Asia Pacific region. APAC is the world’s fastest growing smart wearables market now.

Earlier this year, the firm launched the COVE R2C IoT Innovation Lab, a multipartite IoT innovation and research lab in Singapore’s one-north technology hub.

Singapore-based One Pioneer will launch a space-themed resort in Phuket worth US$40m. It will comprise a 150-room hotel in a space-themed complex featuring visuals of astronauts, an indoor observatory and other style elements that invoke being in outer space.

Janette Lee, founder and CEO, said the project is being constructed on Wichit Songkram Road, scheduled for opening in 2020.

Singapore-based edutech startup Cudy today announced an undisclosed “six-figure” seed funding round from undisclosed strategic investors.

The company plans to use the new funding to launch new services, develop their back-end technology, and support go-to-market initiatives.

Launched in 2018, Cudy is a platform that enables students to take real-time online tuition classes.
