ST Electronics bagged contracts worth $635m in Q1

It secured a maintenance contract for lighting systems for an unnamed Asian operator.

ST Electronics secured $635m worth of contracts in the first quarter of 2018. According to an announcement, these included solutions in mobility, satellite communications, Internet of Things (IoT), public safety and security, cybersecurity and defence.

ST Electronics's notable wins included a turnkey project for Sanying MRT line in New Taipei City, rail electronics solutions for Bangkok BTS SkyTrain, Bangkok Blue Line Extension, Guangzhou Metro Line 3, Taoyuan Airport MRT line and Taipei MRT line.

"A contract was also secured for the maintenance and monitoring of airfield lighting systems for an airport operator in Asia. These projects will be delivered progressively," it said.

ST Electronics is collaborating with Ghalam LLP, an Airbus Defence and Space joint venture based in Kazakhstan, to develop next-generation ground technologies. It also partnered Ireland-based Software Radio Systems to enhance video streaming experiences for users around the globe, at a reduced cost for network operators.

The company has also started developing first-of-its-kind integrated SWAP (small Size, Weight and Power) satellite ground terminals for the automobile and aviation sectors.

ST Electronics also bagged contracts including a sensor network to enable near real-time management of urban water resources and smart street lighting in cities in New Zealand, the UK, Canada, Israel and the US.

It clinched some contracts related to public safety and security solutions, involving an integrated counter-drone system and a communications platform for emergency response.

ST Electronics was also engaged to provide a multi-tenanted On-Premise Cloud Infrastructure that hosts and manages IT services and data assets.
