Singapore ranks amongst top 5 buyers at Taipei Cycle 2024

The show reported over 27,000 international and domestic visitors.

Singapore clinched the top five buyer country spot at the Taipei Cycle with its 189 trader attendees. Other leading buyer countries include Japan with 520 delegates, China (including Hong Kong) with 362, USA with 292, and South Korea with 247.

Last year, Singapore emerged as the fourth-largest buyer in the trade show, coming after the US and before Germany.

Gary Gleason, Vice President of Sales at Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB), said during the event that Singaporeans are gearing more toward upscale accessories for cycling. He mentioned their preference for tubeless tires and “sophisticated saddles.”

Italian company Vittoria said that global cycling is moving towards a more sustainable industry with consumers being more conscious about where their gears are coming from.

“Consumer preference is also moving towards a more sustainable mindset,” Gregory Veerananda, Vittoria’s Head of Sales and Marketing, said, “At a higher level, this is where we see the consumer behaviours going towards and this is exactly why we strongly believe that this is the future of bicycle tires.”

Vittoria is awarded by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) with the Gold Award – Green Prize for their Sustainable Bicycle Tire.

Taipei Cycle’s biggest ever

The trade show revolved around four key themes: Micro Mobility, Green Action, Startup & Innovation, and Cycling Culture and Lifestyle, which offered attendees to engage with international brands and supply chain companies.

Nearly 4,000 international visitors from 80 countries attended the exhibition at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX) on March 6-9. Additionally, a total of 23,000 domestic industry attendees visited the show.

According to TAITRA, the event’s scale has increased by nearly 15% compared to 2023, and 5% compared to pre-pandemic levels. 

The 2024 instalment boasted participation from 950 companies occupying 3,500 booths at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX) Hall 1 & 2.

Taipei Cycle’s Bike Venture Zone showcased 10 selected startups from 8 countries, and the Bike Venture Summit and Innovation Salon attracted over 30% of registrations from investors and technology industry executives.

Next year’s instalment of the Taipei Cycle will be held from March 26-29, 2025 at TaiNEX Halls 1 and 2 in Taiwan.
