STATS ChipPAC hit with patent infringement claim

The firm is mulling a counterclaim.

Mainboard-listed STATS ChipPAC today revealed that it has been served with a Writ of Summons by ERS Electronic GMBH on the back of a patent infringement charge.

ERS Electronic claimed that STATS ChipPAC has infringed its patents relating to debonder machines used in wafer level package assembly process.

“The Company does not expect this action to have a material financial impact. The Company has sought
legal advice and is of the opinion that the claim is groundless and without merit and intends to take all
necessary steps to vigorously defend the claim, including but not limited to, a counterclaim for revocation
of the patents which the Company has been alleged to infringe,” STATS ChipPAC said in a release to the SGX.
