F1 race unaffected by corruption probe on Grand Prix owner

Trade Minister Gan said the race will “continue as planned.”

The F1 race in Singapore will “continue as planned” despite the ongoing probe against Ong Beng Seng, the owner of the rights to the Singapore Grand Prix.

Ong also serves as the Managing Director of Hotel Properties Limited.

In response to the Parliament, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong said preparations for the race are already “at an advanced stage” and the government is working with “all partners involved to ensure the success of the race.”

“Since the inception of the Singapore Grand Prix, STB has undertaken audits which covered contract compliance, procurement procedures, and grant administration process,” Gan added.

Gan, meanwhile, did not comment on the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau’s ongoing investigations involving Ong.
