Singapore Repertory Theatre stages Fantastic Mr Fox, God of Carnage

Fantastic Mr Fox will run from 1 November to 9 December and God of Carnage will run starting 6 November.

In a release from the SRT, SRT’s The Little Company will be staging Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl - the world’s favourite children’s author.

The play has been adapted by David Wood. David has adapted almost all of Roald Dahl’s books for stage. Fantastic Mr Fox is a classic tale of goodies and baddies. It is an inspiring story about the brave Mr Fox who devises a plan to steal food from three mean farmers in order to feed his family. The farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean, try to get Mr Fox by any means possible. But with the help of his family and his friend, the Badger, Mr Fox outsmarts the farmers at every turn.

The play will be directed by Kate Golledge (Associate Director on the current London West End production of The Wizard of Oz) and designed by Hayley Grindle, one of the most exciting designers in the UK. Original music for the show will be composed by SRT’s Associate Artistic Director, Dick Lee.

Filled with humour and packed with action, this is a lovely theatre experience to be enjoyed by children and families aged 4 and above.

God of Carnage

Following on from the recent successful staging of Shakespeare in the Park – Twelfth Night, SRT is delighted to announce that it’s next main stage production will be the Tony Award-winning hit, God of Carnage, starring Tony and Olivier Award-winning
actress Lea Salonga and one of Singapore’s leading actors, Adrian Pang. The couple was last seen together on stage in 1999 in SRT’s They’re Playing our Song.

This 90-minute comedy is about two couples who meet to discuss a playground fight between their two children. As Charles Isherwood of the NY Times says, “It’s laced with the kind of caustic commentary about the fissures in modern marriage and the burdens of child rearing that is catnip to Broadway audiences”. With the pressures of parenting in Singapore and the stresses on family life, this play will definitely resonate with local audiences as well, leaving everyone laughing cathartically.
