UOB reveals virtual desktop for IT team

The UOB DevTop platform has been developed in partnership with VMware.

Amidst the ongoing pandemic, which has forced its IT team to adopt a work-from-home environment, the United Overseas Bank (UOB) has tapped software company VMWare to developing a secure virtual desktop, or UOB DevTop, for this vital function.

The UOB DevTop provides the bank’s team of 3,000 IT developers with a secure sandbox to test and implement upgrades to UOB’s digital services and solutions. It was developed by integrating VMware’s virtual desktop solution, VMware Horizon, with UOB’s IT and hybrid cloud infrastructures.

Susan Hwee, head of group technology and operations at UOB, said, “Tapping our technology and cloud infrastructure, coupled with VMware’s solutions, we developed and deployed a more secure virtual desktop solution at an unprecedented pace and scale. This enabled our team of 3,000 IT developers to continue to support the Bank’s business activities and innovation drive without compromising on security.”

Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
