Singtel associate Bharti shifts focus to digital with corporate restructure

Singtel owns more than 30% of the Indian telco giant.

Bharti Airtel, a joint-venture company with Singtel, has overhauled its corporate structure, with a view to increasing its focus on digital opportunities in India.

"The new structure sets the exciting future course for Bharti Airtel and provides focus on the four distinct businesses-- Digital, India, International and Infrastructure, each, in a razor sharp way. We believe this will provide agility, expertise and operational regour to serve our customers brilliantly while providing flexibility to unlock value for our shareholders," said Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal in a statement.

Airtel Digital Limited would be folded into Bharti Airtel, housing all of its digital assets including Wynk Music, Airtel X stream, Airtel Thanks, Mitra Payments platform, Airtel Ads, Airtel IQ, Airtel Secure, Airtel Cloud and all future digital products and services.

All telcom businesses would be housed in a new entity, Airtel Limited, wholly owned by Bharti. This would eventually include Bharti Telemedia and Bharti Hexacom.

Bharti's infrastructure businesses, international subsidiaries, and affiliates will remain as separate entities.
