Singapore has taken a step back in terms of innovation capabilities and outcomes as it ranked seventh in the Global Innovation Index 2017.
The city-state slipped from sixth in the rankings, which has seen Switzerland dominating the charts for a seventh consecutive year now.
Singapore's strengths in the ranking include institutions, regulatory environment, tertiary education, infrastructure, and business sophistication.
The index measured innovation in 127 countries.
