Singapore connectivity level reaches 99%: IMDA report

The report also found that 2 in 3 Singaporeans are keen to try new digital technologies.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched the first-ever Singapore Digital Society Report, which found that 99% of households in the country already have internet access.

The report also revealed that over the past few years, Singapore has made good progress as a digital society, with 98% of households having access to computers and almost all residents aged 18 to 59 owning smartphones.

In addition, Singapore also recorded high levels of digital skills adoption across the population. More than half (66%) of seniors used mobile app payments, whilst 86% of seniors used the internet to search for information in 2022.

IMDA also reported that more than eight in 10 Singaporeans agree that digital technologies have made their lives easier, and almost two in three Singaporeans are keen to try new digital technologies.

Meanwhile, 66% of those surveyed also agree that Singapore’s move towards a digital future will benefit every Singaporean.

However, Singaporeans are wary about the risk of digitalisation such as misinformation and online scams with just about one in two expressing willingness to accept the risks associated with technology use.

The government encourages the public to use 2-factor authentication and be discerning consumers of online information.
