SAP, EDB open digital innovation hub for next generation engineering

SAP Labs Singapore will employ 500 highly skilled digital professionals by 2025.

Software firm, SAP, with the support of Singapore Economic Development Board, opened SAP Labs Singapore, a digital innovation hub, to spearhead next generation engineering and research and development (R&D) for digitalisation. 

The digital hub will employ more than 500 highly skilled digital professionals locally by 2025. With this, SAP’s existing team of product engineering professionals in Singapore will be doubled.

The hub will be SAP’s first in Southeast Asia as it seeks to catalyse deep technology, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, and advancing transformative digital supply chain, intelligent business network, and sustainability solutions. 

At the hub’s launch, Thomas Saueressig, member of the executive board of SAP SE for SAP Product Engineering, said they invest in R&D to build solutions that will help customers in shifting to digital and create value for their operations in businesses and communities.

“SAP Labs Singapore joins a network of strategic high-tech clusters, reinforcing SAP’s strong confidence in Singapore as an innovation and investment hub, its highly educated and skilled talent, and its position as a regional beacon of excellence in technology innovation and a digital future,” added Saueressig.

In SAP’s new regional study, 75% of Singapore's small and medium-sized enterprises are moderately optimistic about growth in the next 12 months, with 69% saying digital transformation is “very important” or “extremely important” for their organisation’s survival for the next year.
