MTI, U.S. Department of Commerce expand partnership in 3 new areas
One of these areas is cybersecurity.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) will collaborate on three new areas under the Partnership for Growth and Innovation (PGI).
Under the expanded PGI, the U.S. DOC will cooperate with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to develop interoperable artificial intelligence (AI) governance frameworks.
“Companies can expect to deploy AI across borders with greater ease, to seize innovation opportunities while managing the risks. We look forward to tangible outcomes from our ongoing digital and cyber workstreams,” Minister for Communications and Information and Second Minister for Home Affairs, Josephine Teo, said.
The DOC will also send an advanced manufacturing trade mission to Singapore and other countries in the Southeast Asia region to promote standards that will improve manufacturing resiliency and facilitate new opportunities for collaboration among the Singapore and U.S. private sectors.
On cybersecurity, DOC will join hands with the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) in setting best practices, creating regional capacity-building programmes on smart cities through the ASEAN-Singapore Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence.
