IBM, Temasek Polytechnic partner up for Technology Experience Centre

The centre aims to enhance students' capabilities in the hybrid cloud.

IBM and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) announced the launch of a Technology Experience Centre. It aims to enhance students' capabilities in hybrid cloud and spur new research and development collaborations in emerging technologies.

The IBM-TP Technology Experience Centre will train approximately 500 students each year to design and co-create smart and connected solutions for the industry on IBM's hybrid cloud platform. Students will gain access to IBM's green high powered hybrid cloud enterprise computing technologies through solution discovery engagements and capability, as well as skills training. This will equip them with the knowledge and insight for emerging roles in the digital economy that supports Singapore's Smart Nation and cybersecurity goals.

"Singapore is recognised as an innovation hub and is well poised to contribute to the recovery of the global economy by creating new solutions to address the challenges faced by industries transitioning to a post-pandemic era. The collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic is timely in IBM's journey in Singapore by contributing to the development of a future-ready workforce and exposing students to sustainable technologies that make a positive impact to communities in Singapore," said IBM ASEAN general manager Martin Chee.

"The Government has committed to partner the industry in supporting our students to pick up skills in emerging technologies. IBM's collaboration with Temasek Poly to establish a TP-IBM Technology Experience Centre is a good example. Through this collaboration, students can learn about developing Smart and Connected digital solutions that leverage the power of cloud platforms. These skills and experiences will be valuable in helping our students seize exciting opportunities in the growing digital economy," Ministry of Communications and Information Tan Kiat How said as he presided over the launch ceremony.

Experts from IBM will also expose Temasek Polytechnic staff and students to real-life industry problem statements and provide free consultancy on joint collaborative projects.
